This is a good time to remind everyone keeping our community healthy is a joint effort. It is imperative that you do not send your student to school if they are sick or symptomatic. Checking to see if your child is healthy before sending them to school is the first and best layer of protection against the spread of illness. Families are strongly encouraged to do a temperature and symptoms check before sending their child to school. Anyone with a fever greater than 100 degrees should not come to school. Students and staff should also screen for additional symptoms including shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, coughing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
This is also a good time to remind everyone how quarantines are determined. Local health departments quarantine, MCE does not. MCE will assist in contact tracing. Unfortunately, not all classes are able to maintain 6 feet of distance between students/staff. Certain exposures may result in an entire class or team being quarantined. This is determined by the local health departments. Contact tracers begin looking at exposures 2 days prior to symptom onset of the positive case.
Current Quarantine Rules if Exposed to a Positive Case
-Vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine unless they are symptomatic
-7 days without symptoms and a negative test, return on day 8
-10 days without symptoms and no test, return on day 11
-Other as determined by the local health department
