MCE Families,
This afternoon Governor Parson announced that all Missouri public schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year. This is heartbreaking for so many reasons, but we understand the decision.
We know this leaves you with a lot of questions. We will continue to provide enrichment learning opportunities and food deliveries until May 19. Please stay tuned for information about continued learning activities, rescheduling of activities/events, gathering personal belongings from the buildings, and more.
Thank you for your continued support!

The following is a message from the MS/HS Office Regarding Learning Packets and Virtual Learning:
We know there are a lot of questions regarding learning and the COIVID-19 closure. During this closure, learning needs to be mainly focused on enrichment and reviewing content already learned according to the Missouri Learning Standards. Students are encouraged to sit 30-35 minutes a day for each class. For the Middle School core classes and those who are not utilizing online platforms, we do have the next set of learning packets ready for pick-up and bins ready for you to turn in any physical work completed. Pick-up & Drop-Off of any work will be done at your convenience. Here is how it will work...
Outside the front of the High School entrance are two filing cabinets. One is labeled Middle School the other High School. The MS cabinet drawers are labeled 6th Grade, 7th Grade and 8th Grade. All work for those grades are in separate folders ready to be picked up. On top of the MS cabinet is a rubbermaid container to turn in any completed work not done electronically. The HS cabinet is labeled Math, Social Studies, Science & Electives, and English. Inside these are labeled packets for each class such as Alg. 1, Geometry, Biology 1, etc. Find you class and get your work. There is also a rubbermaid tub on top of the HS cabinet for you to turn in any non-electronic work. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON YOUR WORK TURNED IN AND TO PAPERCLIP ALL WORK TOGETHER. There are paperclips in one the of bins.
If the closure lasts through the school year, we will be utilizing the 3rd quarter grades as the semester grade. All work completed through the closure is for enrichment only. Grades will not be taken but feedback will be given to students who complete their work for mastery of learning. Grading for dual enrollment courses, however, will be subject to the grading policies set forth by the participating college or university. Please check with your dual enrollment instructor/teacher as to what that may look like.
The primary communication tool between teachers and parents will be school email and if being utilized, Google Classroom. Please feel free to contact your teachers at any time and they will return your email within 24 hours if sent on a weekday. #PantherStrong

MCE Elementary Information regarding Learning Packets 2.0
During this extended closure, learning needs to be focused on the retention of skills and reviewing content already introduced at school. Students are encouraged to participate in “school-like” activities for 30-90 minutes each school day depending on their age and attention span. We encourage you to break it up into manageable chunks.
At this point we request that you KEEP the first learning packets at home. We do NOT need those returned. Grades will NOT be taken on the work completed. Use this time to keep fresh with already learned skills and read, read, read. If the closure lasts through the school year, we will be utilizing the 3rd quarter grades as the semester grade. All work completed through the closures is for enrichment purposes.
New learning packets are now ready for our current closure order. Please read carefully the following methods used to get the packets to you.
MAILED~If your child has an IEP their individualized packet has been mailed. Many siblings' packets were included in that mailing for your convenience.
DELIVERY~If your child receives the Breakfast/Lunch Delivery each Tuesday their packet will be delivered to your door Tuesday, April 7th.
PICK UP~All other packets are available NOW in a filing cabinet at the front entrance of the elementary building. The cabinet is marked and includes hand sanitizer. Packets will NOT be handed out by staff during Life360 food distribution/library checkout time Tuesday evenings. Swing by the filing cabinet anytime. This will cut down on risk to you and our staff.
The primary communication tool between teachers and parents will be school email and a wide variety of other digital tools (Facebook, Remind, ClassTag, Messenger, Google Classroom, etc.). Please feel free to contact your teachers as questions arise. Stay safe and remember to wash your hands often.

MCE Families,
The ongoing impact of COVID-19 in our region requires school districts to make decisions in the best interest of public health. After consultation with the Polk County Health Department and other area leaders, it was determined an extended school closure was necessary. The Marion C. Early R-V School District will be closed through Friday, April 24, 2020. This includes all extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
We continue to understand that each family is impacted in unique ways by the extended school closure. We will continue to provide breakfast and lunch to our students in need. In an effort to limit staff exposure, we will move to a once a week delivery. All students who have signed up for breakfast and lunch will receive 4 days worth of food on Tuesdays. We will also continue our food partnership with Life 360 throughout the closure.
Teachers are working on additional enrichment activities. Details on the enrichment activities will be provided by the building principals when they become available.
Our priority during this difficult time is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Please know that we miss each of our students and are anxiously awaiting the day we can welcome them back.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these uncertain times.
Sincerely,
Dr. Josh Angel
