between those hours on Thursday!

Please spread the word! Prom will now be held on May 2nd. It will still be at the Discovery Center in Springfield. We will have more information together once we return to school on April 6th.

The monthly Board of Education meeting is still scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 6pm. Due to CDC recommendations to limit public gatherings, we will be live streaming open session on our Facebook page. We ask that anyone wanting to attend the meeting do so through the live stream.

We continue to work out the logistics of our breakfast and lunch options for students. If your children are in need of breakfast and lunch delivery and you have not notified the school via the online survey or if you have changed your mind and would like breakfast and lunch delivered, please call the elementary or high school office at 417-376-2255. Please leave a message with your students' name(s) and that you would like to participate in the breakfast and lunch program. You will need to indicate the address where your student(s) will be during the day. There is no cutoff date for participation. You can call and get added to the list at any time. You will be updated with more details as they are developed, but our goal is to make our first round of deliveries on Thursday. Thank you

CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MARION C. EARLY SCHOOLS:
Dear MCE Families,
There is no higher priority than the safety of our students, staff, and community. As our local, national, and international communities continue to assess the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the Marion C.Early School District receives ongoing guidance from the local and state health departments, the State Department of Education, and the CDC.
I am writing to inform you, based on the recent recommendation from the Polk County Health Department, the Marion C. Early R-V School District will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 through Friday, April 3, 2020. All extra-curricular practices and other after school activities are canceled during this time as well. We will reassess the situation, with guidance from our health departments, on March 26, 2020, to determine the need for an extended closure.
All students should have brought home an instructional packet. This work should cover the first 8 instructional days missed. We realize that closing our schools presents many hardships for our community. Our ability to provide learning during this unprecedented time will require a close partnership between the schools and parents/guardians. Please check your email regularly and be in contact with your child’s teachers.
MCE will continue to work with local and state agencies to develop plans to maintain the critical support our schools provide to students and families. A plan for food distribution will be announced as soon as it is established.
We are committed to sharing these plans with you as they are developed and will communicate as the situation evolves. Updates and information will be communicated by the District All-call system, our social media sites, and our website (www.mcepanthers.com).
Thank you for your patience and continued support of our efforts to be proactive during this unprecedented time.
Dr. Josh Angel
Superintendent

No after school activities or practices today, Monday the 16th, at MCE. #PantherNation

This is a reminder that school will be in session on Monday, March 16. We would also like to take this opportunity to let you know we are diligently monitoring the coronavirus outbreak. We are staying in close contact with the Polk County Health Department and the CDC to make sure we have the most up to date information. At this time all daily operations will remain normal. Our custodial staff is taking extra steps to disinfect all areas to keep our students and staff healthy. We are also encouraging proper hand washing and other preventative measures. This is a fluid situation that seems to be changing by the minute. We hope that everyone has a great weekend and stays healthy.

MCE is proud to welcome our next MS/HS principal for the 2020-2021 school year, Mr. Justin Crumpley!
